Stones of Cevennes

This collection of works is inspired by the landscape of the Cevennes national park in southern France. Each piece combines delicate raw brass elements with found rocks from the region to form carefully balanced systems mixing precise and rugged forms.

I love the topography of the Cevennes which was once a terraced agricultural landscape of dry stone mica and quartz walls, goats and chestnuts but is now wild with evergreen oak, craggy streams and beautiful silvery rock.

Every mobile in the collection was made by hand in France taking up to two days per piece depending on the complexity.

This particular mobile is the eighth in the series and features 11 brass elements in a dangling in two opposing cascases around a single spine balanced by a single jagged silvery stone. Including the brass top arm, it measures 21cm wide by 46cm high at its furtherest extent and rotates freely. The piece is supplied with a length of clear wire with a hand-made brass hook for hanging. The mobile is can be hung easily from a standard lightweight ceiling hook without specialist fastenings.

Postage and packaging

For all mobiles in this series I am packing them in card presentation boxes for safe transport. This means the postage isn't the cheapest as the process of sticking each mobile down is rather fiddly but, trust me, it is worth it especially when gifting.
