Three hour mobile making workshop with kinetic sculptor Phineas Harper.
Up to six participants.
This workshop is designed to teach the basics of mobile making, a sculptural practice with roots in indigenous culture that took off in the Twentieth Century but which is still under-explored within the wider art world. Working with your choice of brass, bronze, copper, timber, card, acetate and other materials, you’ll learn the fundamental techniques that go into mobile making in the manner of Harper’s own practice and have the chance to create your own kinetic piece with materials, colours and shapes of your choice to take home.
The workshop takes place in Harper’s home and studio on the Vanbrugh Park Estate in Greenwich with a log fire burning in the stove, and Buck’s Fizz in your glass (or a soft drink if you prefer!).
Tuesday 28th April, 9am to 12pm
£60 — includes a £5 booking fee plus all materials
Cancellation up to three days before workshop — full refund minus booking fee
Cancellation to to two days before workshop – 70% refund minus booking fee
Cancellation one day before workshop – 40% refund minus booking fee
Ages 14+. The Vanbrugh Park Estate is not wheelchair accessible. Harper’s home is up one flight of external stairs with no lift access. Not suitable for anyone with cat allergies.
